Trainees 2020-21

Welcome to The Cambridge Partnership.

As a trainee you are part of our growing Partnership, and your input, experiences and ideas will be much valued by staff and other trainees alike. In return, please make sure that you take advantage of the experience of staff and the contributions of other trainees to make your year fulfilling and successful.

Your course start date is 26th August 2020. Your offer letter will include any conditions that you need to fulfil in order that you can take up the offer of a place on the course.

Induction days 26th-28th August 2020

All trainees have been sent an email with the outline programme for the induction days (which is also available here). The email included details of your allocated group together with the information reproduced below:

As you will be aware the Covid-19 pandemic has created numerous challenges to schools and we have had to adapt the delivery of our programme to make it viable. In order to accommodate all trainees we have had to move to a blend of face to face delivery in smaller groups and time working from home on online units. Over the 3 planned days each of you will have one full day at our training base at The Fleet Centre, Peterborough (PE2 8DL) and one morning at Swavesey Village College (CB24 4RS) with the remaining day and a half working from home. This is not how we would prefer to begin the course but is a compromise to allow you to meet your programme managers and key staff but maintain social distancing.

Similarly, our Friday training days have had to be adapted to create smaller working groups that will be hosted in separate venues but we will explain how we anticipate this working when we see you in August.

Unfortunately, COVID restrictions mean that we are unable to provide refreshments at the training venues, therefore we ask that you bring your own refreshments. Hand sanitiser will be available but please bring your own hand sanitiser & face mask should you wish to do so. Our venues will ensure that seating will be arranged to adhere to social distancing guidelines & will ensure relevant COVID hygiene regulations are followed. When you arrive at The Fleet there will be a one way entry system to ensure your safety and we ask that you queue outside keeping a 2m distance until you are able to enter the building.

You will need to bring the following to the face to face sessions:
  • Your original certificates for GCSE English, maths (and Science for Primary only) and Bachelors Degree (please email copies beforehand if you have not done so already)
  • ID documents used for your DBS if you are a tuition fee paying trainee and your DBS was administered via us
  • Please also bring your own notepad and pens to take notes during the sessions
  • Don’t forget your own refreshments, as there are no refreshments provided
  • Please complete the Emergency Contact Details form prior to the induction days
Trainee contracts for tuition fee paying trainees and codes of conduct will sent separately will be sent nearer the time via Adobe Sign.

Should you develop COVD19 symptoms or come into contact with anyone with COVID19 symptoms in the days prior to the induction days, please contact us immediately : 01487 833707 or email cmott@campartnership.org

Please note that our office is closed 24 July – 21 Aug, during this time for urgent matters only please contact info@campartnership.org and we will do our best to reply to you as soon as possible.

Online accounts and log-ins

You will receive an email with details of your login for The Cambridge Partnership systems in the days immediately prior to the course start date. This will include information about what you need to do to be able to access the online sessions that form part of the course induction days.

For trainees on the "Salaried" and "Non Supported" routes:
  • Pre-course visits to different phases and special schools have not been possible due to Covid-19 school closures. We will aim to facilitate these visits during the programme for many trainees, but you should understand that this may not be possible in the 2020-21 training year. These visits are no longer course requirements due to the temporary relaxation of ITT regulations during the pandemic period.
For trainees on "SDTP" and "SCITT" routes:
  • As mentioned above, visits to alternative phases and special schools usually take place during the course but it is very likely that they will not take place this year due to Covid-19 legislation about visitors to schools. Such visits are no longer course requirements, so you will not be disadvantaged by the lack of alternative visits.
We have left the documents below for you to access if you are able to arrange a visit but any visit must be discussed initially with your Programme Manager:
